Pakistan attack targets US Consulate vehicle

An explosives-filled car slammed into a U.S. Consulate vehicle in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, but conflicting reports have emerged about whether any Americans were killed in the suicide attack.

Two U.S. personnel and two Pakistani employees of the consulate were in the vehicle and were wounded, but no U.S. Consulate employees were killed, State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said in a statement.

She said the U.S. authorities were "seeking further information about other victims of this heinous act."

The local Information Minister Iftikhar Hussain, meanwhile, showed reporters the passport of an American he said was believed to have been killed in the attack. He earlier said two Americans died in the blast.

He said the attack also wounded at least 19 people, including a woman and two children.
